Spielraumhäuser, housing system

Many settlements. One serial system. Many floor plans. One flexible house.

Spielraumhäuser are a serially planned housing system, adaptable to different places, stages of life and user requirements. They combine the qualities of a private house with the advantages of multi-storey residential buildings, creating an independent, flexible and neighbourly form of living.

Based on a modular structure, different apartments and forms of housing can be created: from small apartments and medium-sized flats to family homes, maisonettes and entire houses. Implemented as two- or three-storey buildings, Spielraumhäuser can respond to the requirements of different sites and urban contexts.

At the heart of the concept is a form of living that can change with life. Families grow or become smaller, children move out, people grow older, and ways of living evolve. Spielraumhäuser are designed to respond to these changes — so that people do not always have to move to find the right home, but the living space itself can remain adaptable.

At the same time, neighbourly structures are created, with private retreats, shared possibilities and pleasant transitions between house, open space and settlement.

Accessibility can be fully implemented even in two-storey buildings, making Spielraumhäuser usable for many different life situations and requirements.

The concept is ready for implementation; a first prototype is in preparation. We are now looking for places, partners and sites for the first realisations of Spielraumhäuser.
