HAUS DER ÄRZTE
Facade renovation and reconstruction of the high-rise building of the Medical Association of Saarland
from the 1970s
transformation
before
after
The high-rise building of the Saarland Medical Association, erected in 1972, has a striking silhouette that characterizes Saarbrücken's city center, which is undergoing reconstruction. After the building had to be stripped for structural and energetic reasons, it was repackaged and completely rebuilt.
facade
The expression and material of the new facade speak of homogeneous enveloping, embracing an underlying construction, whose geometric and structural peculiarities: Varying floor heights, curves, projections and recesses are made visible. The sculpturally pronounced cubature ensures a lively, ever-changing interplay of the repeating facade elements.
signaletics
In cooperation with design office Joseph Grillmeier, a signaling concept was developed for the entire building.
